Happy New Year!

When the clock strikes midnight, most of us will be shouting “Happy New Year!” and celebrating with hats, noisemakers, fanfare and possibly a bit too much alcohol. ; )-

We celebrate because it is a new YEAR, not just one day, one week or one month, but an entire new YEAR ahead of us, the past is past and the future is bright, and this fills many people with optimism and hope. The hope that the coming year will be better.

It’s fitting because everyone (barring any unforeseen tragedy) has a fresh full calendar year ahead of them, 24-7/365, and the possibilities are endless. Get that new job, lose that weight, get the guy or girl of their dreams to name a few. Many create resolutions but sadly, many fail at most or all of them. But don’t forget that it’s a happy new YEAR, an ongoing year’s worth of time, days, weeks and months for us to succeed. If you don’t see the results you want immediately, or don’t know how to get those results, don’t get discouraged or consider yourself unlucky, simply evaluate, re-adjust and look at the long term goal, look at the new YEAR.

When people fail I often hear them say “I’m just not cut out for this” so here’s an idea . . . get cut out for it! You weren’t cut out to drive a car were you? You were taught, then after practice you were able to successfully drive, and pass a test. Well, hopefully you passed, if you’re driving a car that is.

The reality is that all too often people fail the success test. They fail to plan, fail to set goals and fail to define the steps one must take to achieve their goals. They fail to learn how to drive the success machine. Even if they do have the plans in place, they often fail to work toward their goals each and every day.

Remember the phrase that starts out with “if at first you don’t succeed?” Well when did we learn to stop trying? If you can imagine it, you can create it, it only takes a plan, action and a conscious daily effort to create your own luck, and to create your own economy. Just try, try again. Step by step, slowly but surely, and it might just happen sooner than you expected, but only if you plan, prepare, focus and act.

Here is a challenge I’d like you to consider for the new year:

* Are you going to let it happen or make it happen?
* Are you going to be a spectator or a participant?
* Are you setting small, easily attainable goals, or are you challenging yourself to reach beyond your comfort zone?
* Are you going to wait for your ship to come in or swim out to it and head to the
Bahamas?
* A resolution is a determination, so how determined will you be?

Please know this:

* You can do better in 2011!
* You can learn more and earn more!
* You can be happier, healthier, wealthier and have better relationships!
* You can overcome every failure that you’ve ever had!
* You can succeed like never before!

BUT . . .

Only if YOU want to do it and YOU fully commit to it. The reward is great. Not only will you achieve your goals, but an extra bonus there’s also a sense of accomplishment and pride that goes along with it, just because you reached or exceeded your goals.

So here it is, a happy new YEAR, and an opportunity to create a happy new YOU!

Are you excited?
