This very moment is the only one we know for sure that we have here on this earth. Sure, you can believe in reincarnation but I am 100% certain that I’m here right now. So wouldn’t it be a good idea to make every moment count?
You just passed the future
Let’s face it, the past is done, it’s ancient history and unchangeable. All you can hope to do is the following:
- Learn from the mistakes instead of regretting them.
- Enjoy the fond memories without forgetting them.
Secondly, the future is not here yet and can be subject to change no matter how much you plan for it or think ahead. However, the more you plan and accomplish right now, the better the future can become.
In the blink of an eye precious moments can just pass us by all because we spend so much time worrying about the future or lamenting over the past. What if you started creating the future exactly as you would like to remember it, when it becomes the past?
“When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.” ~John M Richardson
We tend to let ourselves get distracted two ways, either by past feelings, experiences or disappointments or by future events or uncertain situations. Either way it is non-productive, a waste of energy and a deterrent to your success, both personally and professionally.
We only have right now
And right now, this instant, is anything really that wrong? Unless it’s something like a major catastrophe or the loss of a loved one, what else is truly significant?
- Lost your job? You still have the ability to find employment, in time.
- Spouse divorced you? There’s still a chance of reconciliation or finding someone even better suited for you who appreciates you.
- Had an accident? If it didn’t cause a permanent debilitating injury, then it could be worse.
- Feel tired? Take a nap
- Getting a cold? Take a nap
You never know the full outcome of a current event, you only decide whether it’s good or bad in that moment, and we all have learned that over time, what we once thought was bad, was actually for the better and vice versa.
What me worry?
To make matters worse, many of us consume ourselves by worrying about something that may or may not happen in the future and then we’ll act as if it will happen, as if it’s inevitable and factual. And we all too often create a picture or an outcome in the negative sense.
- What if I fail?
- What if I get sick?
- What if I get fired?
- What if I can’t pay my bills?
- What if my spouse is cheating?
It’s never “oh my gosh, what will I do if I hit lotto?”
This negative type of thinking is usually due to reflecting on the past. But the past does not dictate the future unless we allow it to. Start living in the moment, right now and create more positive results. We have a reset button readily available to us. Press it!
“With the past, I have nothing to do; nor with the future. I live now.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
If you focus on potential negative results, you will inevitably bring those negative results to fruition. If you shift your focus, you can change your life.
We are blessed to have this opportunity on earth. We all have a fair chance to make a difference in our own lives and the lives of others. Leave a legacy, because you never know when your time here is up.
Find your purpose, follow your passion and start living the life you’ve imagined right now.
