The Extra Mile

October is breast cancer awareness month. Anyone with a Facebook account can’t miss all of the jokes, reminders and other things that might bring about attention to the cause. Even the NFL, throwing fashion sense aside, adds dashes of pink to their uniforms.

This is something that many of us participate in, if only by sharing a photo or an inspirational story. All of this is very good and should be commended, but is that really enough? Meaning, can we do even more to help?

Could we donate our time? Or give one dollar, or ten dollars? Can we walk for a cure?  I was actually surprised to see all the possible things one could do (where I live) that would help further the cause.

Many people believe that they can’t really make a difference, it’s as if they feel that whatever they do won’t matter at all. So they might only hope to make a difference, or at the very least be a part of something they believe in. But if we all would do more, be more and lead more then we would undoubtedly change more lives.

You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world.  ~Woodrow Wilson

Future is now

After October fades we must ask where else in our lives can we go the extra mile?

Does the support have to end when October ends? Can we add value to others and encourage them continuously? Can we donate a part of our heart and soul throughout the year or throughout our lives?

We all know how good it makes us feel to do good for others, there’s a reward, or a certain joy in it.  Therefore we actually receive by giving, every time. And giving opens up the channels to abundant living.

We can always find an opportunity to go above and beyond if we seek it out. We shouldn’t leave it up to others to act, instead we should act in our own favor and then for others. Why not try to change the world? You don’t have to tackle the entire world, instead you can affect the world of one person for just one moment. There are opportunities everywhere.

The only people who can change the world are people who want to. And not everybody does. ~Hugh MacLeod

In the beginning

It starts and ends with you!

If everyone decided to help themselves first, making a conscious decision to make a difference, well, what a difference we all would make. If you become better, happier, healthier and more successful it can inspire others, teaching them that it’s possible for them to achieve success in their lives.

Your life is waiting for you to make the first move. In what areas do you feel you could improve? Who can you reach out to today and help? Do more for yourself, your clients, your friends, your family and strangers and you will leave a legacy rather than simply live a life.

Everybody thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing themselves. ~Leo Tolstoy
