The Changing Room

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending. ~Maria Robinson

How happy are you with your life? Are you doing what you’ve dreamed of? Are you accomplishing all that you thought or said you would? Or, have you settled into a routine that’s “not quite” what you expected?

If you aren’t satisfied, what do you think is going to change your life? Is someone floating around you with a magic wand so that one day when you least expect it they’ll suddenly go “poof” and then . . . bam! You’ll have the life you desire?

Some people act that way, as if whatever is “meant to be” will simply happen. If this were true, why are so many people unfulfilled? Is that meant to be? I don’t think so. It’s not meant for anyone to be discontented. We all truly deserve better and yet many of us settle for something less.  Isn’t it time you chose to bust out of that uncomfortable comfort zone?

Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it’s always your choice. ~Wayne Dyer

All aboard

Have you ever heard this old saying?

“I’m waiting for my ship to come in”

I have found two definitions of this that can be very helpful to us. The definitions make it glaringly obvious that this mindset is limiting, if not futile.

A: to passively wait and expect opportunities to come to you without actively doing something to bring success to your life.

B: to wait for a long term investment or gamble, which a person has no control over after the investment has been made.

How many people do you know that are doing this very thing? Waiting, and hoping that something will work out. Are you personally waiting? You have to realize that you are the one and only person who cares enough about your life to make positive changes happen. No one else can do it for you, nor will they, they have their own lives.

YOU have to stop waiting and start doing!

Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle. ~Abraham Lincoln

On your mark

Where do you want to improve your life? Deciding on the change you want is the first step. Do you want to lose weight? Earn more money? Have better relationships? Write a book? Be a better parent or spouse?

Whatever it is that you want to do, learn more about how to do it. Gather all the information you can. If you don’t arm yourself with wisdom, how can you succeed? Would you apply for a  job as an attorney if you had no degree? Of course not. You’d likely be thrown out of the office before you had a chance to fail miserably at the position.

So how do you expect to succeed at other things if you don’t have the knowledge you need to do so?

Without knowledge you will lack confidence. Without confidence, you won’t last very long, if you even get up the courage to try at all. Usually you’ll give up if you don’t feel you’re progressing or if you hit an obstacle that you aren’t prepared for. You’ll be discouraged.

Plan out the steps it will take to reach your goal and get started. Then persevere! Everything yields to effort.

There’s always a way – if you’re committed.
